Two More Knocks for #2

Nice comeback win for the Yankees today. They snapped a 9-game losing streak inside the monstrosity known as the Tropicana Dome. They also have been swept this year in Toronto so obviously they don't play well in domes and on fake grass.
Have to thank relief pitcher Kyle Farnsworth. The former Yankees gas can imploded for the Rays, walking 4 straight batters in the 8th inning to help the Yanks rally from a 3-1 deficet to win 4-3.
Derek Jeter had two more hits, giving him 103 hits on the season (through 81 games) and 3,191 for his career, leaving him 1,065 behind Hall of Famer Pete Rose and his 4,256 knocks.
While it will be a while before Jeter approaches Rose, there are some big names he could pass this season on the all-time list.
Up next, and #13 on the hits list is Napolean Lajoie with 3,242. I never saw him play but I did see #12 on the list, Eddie Murray who has 3,255 hits.
If Jeter has a good second half and stays healthy, he could pass Willie Mays (3,283 this season. He's 92 hits behind Mays who sits in the number 11 slot on the all-time hits list.
I don't know if Jeter will catch Rose. But he'll be knocking off some big names along the way.
